Mother’s Day is just around the corner and being a mom myself, I have always loved homemade gifts with a touch of retail included. What does that mean, well, I love when my son would create a beautiful gift for me, but then add a fun item from one of my favorite retail stores into the gift somehow. It shows me he really thought about me and remembered what I truly love.
My love of tea comes from my mom and I love finding new flavors to share with her. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, this cute tea card is the perfect gift for my mom, or any mom that loves tea. It’s very easy to create, and very inexpensive, it also makes a great teacher gift or even a gift for a great friend.
You don’t have to spend a fortune on the DIY part of the gift, most of these Ideas include items or may already have around your home, or that are inexpensive at the local craft store.
First, cut one section of the egg carton in half and paint it with the acrylic paint, let it dry at least 20 minutes. Next, Cut the white card stock into a 4 x 6-inch piece and set it aside. Now cut the decorative scrapbook paper to 3 ½ x 5 ½ inch piece, using the glue dots or tape runner, adhere the scrapbook paper to the card stock evenly. Now, hot glue the painted egg carton piece to the decorative scrapbook paper, leaving the opening to place the tea bag in it. Add some decorative stickers and a sweet note for mom.
Spa gift baskets are great for mom, and a perfect way to combine a DIY item with a retail item. Bath bombs or salts are easy to create, and you can head to mom’s favorite retail store to purchase a few spa related items to add to the basket. I just love Soft Surroundings and all of the spa related items that they carry.
For Bath Bombs just add 2 tablespoons of Coconut oil.
Mix all ingredients together and place in a container with a lid for an hour or so for the bath bombs, pour the mixture onto a cutting board and make small balls and wrap them in cellophane, it will harden as it sits.
For bath salts, after you mix all the ingredients, place it in cut Ball Jars
Here’s a chance to get some wonderful items for mom without having to spend a dime.
Another great idea for mom is brunch in bed, here is a yummy strawberry brunch cocktail that I absolutely love and I think most mom's would agree. Happy Mother's Day to you all.
Strawberry Brunch Cocktail
3-4 Strawberries finely cut
1 Lime squeezed for the juice (about a 1/2 ounce)
1/2 ounce simple syrup (1 part water to 1 part sugar)
5-10 mint leaves finely chopped
2 oz Enchanted Rock Vodka
Lime wheel, strawberry and mint leaves to garnish
Cut the strawberries and the mint leaves and place them in a glass to mush, I used a spoon but if you have a muddler, use that. Place the ice cubes, mint and strawberry mush, lime juice, simple syrup and vodka in the martini shaker. Garnish the rim of your glass with the strawberry, lime wheel and mint leaf. Place a little bit of the mint and strawberry mixture in the bottom of the glass. Shake all the ingredients really good in the martini shaker and pour into the prepared glass, through the strainer.
