Thanksgiving is the time for the family to get together, share stories of the past and dreams of the future. It’s also the day to spend time with family talking about everything we are thankful for. I am thankful that I get to visit my family more now than I have ever could before, and I am thankful that I get to share my passion of creating with all of you. I am also thankful that you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a beautiful table setting or that with just a few items, you can keep your kiddos busy while you are cooking the big Thanksgiving dinner. Always remember to get creative and have fun.
DIY Table Décor – From Pumpkins to Place Settings
Different Sized Styrofoam Pumpkins
Small Pumpkins for The Treats
Americana Acrylic Paint – White, Black, and Gold
Fall Floral Stems
Gold Leaf and Adhesive
Paint all the pumpkins with white (you can also purchase some of the pumpkins in white). Let them dry and now is the time to get creative, you can gold leaf some of the pumpkins by painting the gold leaf glue in different shapes onto the pumpkin and add the gold leafing. Or paint black or gold paint in different patterns on the pumpkins, or add glitter to just the stem. There are many ways to decorate the pumpkins. Place them in the center of the table with some of the fall flowers and leaves. Add a lantern or candles to finish off the look. Place the gold chargers on top of the place mats and add a white plate and a mini pumpkin with the Jelly Belly Autumn mix.
Fill the center of the tulle with the Jelly Belly Autumn Mix and pull the sides up to tie them together. You can tie the tulle with a rubber band or the pipe cleaners; I suggest a rubber band to hold it better. Use the yellow pipe cleaners to create the feet for the turkey and poke them into place. Create a turkey head by bending the brown pipe cleaner in half and curve it to look like a head. Next, add the wiggle eyes by gluing them to the tip of the brown pipe cleaner and then cut the red and orange pipe cleaners to create a beak and gobbler for the turkey, add them to the brown head and tie it to the scrunched part of the tulle turkey.
