Texas, the second-largest state in the United States, is the biggest state I visit. I'm fortunate enough to travel all over the country for work, and Irving, Texas, is one of the best places to stop when I'm traveling through Texas to Oklahoma. I love staying at the NYLO Irving/Las Colinas; it’s trendy with the industrial decor in the rooms and lobby, and it’s also pet friendly, so my little pup Miss Molly can travel and stay with me when I go on these business trips. I love that Irving is halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth in case I want to visit some of the local attractions, and it’s very close to Grapevine, Texas, which has one of the most beautiful lakeside marinas.
Just a little north of Dallas is a wonderful little area called Las Colinas. It's a quant area far enough from the city to enjoy the suburban surroundings but close enough to head into the city for the day to visit all the great tourist attractions. I have stayed at Aloft hotels all around the country, and the Aloft Las Colinas definitely lives up to the Aloft standards. Of course I am happy that they are pet friendly, which is one of my criteria when looking for a hotel. While in Las Colinas, I always love to visit The Ranch. It has live music and amazing food, and you can even book a helicopter ride.
When traveling to Dallas for business, I always try to go early so I can visit at least one touristy site while I'm there. I 've been to the racetrack and the zoo, but one place I do like to visit more than once is the Old Red Museum. The grounds are beautiful, and every time I go, I get lost in all of the theories that surround this historical building. Last time I was there, I stayed at The Westin Dallas Fort Worth Airport, not only because it was fairly close to where I was going, but also because the hotel itself is very modern and has unbelievable views from the rooftop pool.
Lubbock, Texas, is known for the amazing Texas Tech University, which houses thousands of students every year, but it’s also known for its museums and is quickly becoming known for its wineries. One of the best museums I've ever been visited in Lubbock, TX, is the Buddy Holly Center, home to one of the biggest pair of glasses I have ever seen. I stayed at the Embassy Suites Lubbock last time I was there, and wow, what a great stay. The rooms are very nice; some of them even have in-room Jacuzzi, and the lobby is nothing short of spectacular.
We used to go to the Schlitterbahn Water Park all the time when I was younger, so the last time I headed to South Padre, Texas, I made sure I stayed at the Schlitterbahn Beach Resort and Waterpark. It brought back so many memories from my past; all the fun we use to have and, of course, the lazy river — what a wonderful and relaxing ride that is. Schlitterbahn is definitely a resort that you want to take all of your friends or your whole family or both.
