Creating summer fun doesn’t have to break the bank, most of the items needed for these projects can be found in your home. The kids will have a great time creating these fun and easy DIY summer games and yummies. And funnily enough, there is no hot glue needed in any of these projects, wow, that is so not like me. But that’s what makes these projects fun, you don’t need much to create any of them and anyone can make them and everyone will have fun playing with the games, and the treats will be loved by everyone. As always, be sure to get creative and have fun.
Pool Noodle Candles
Battery Tea Light Candles
Cut the pool noodle into 1 inch pieces with scissors. Next, use the xacto knife to cut a hole big enough to fit the battery tea light candle in it. Place the candle in the pool noodle and enjoy.
Plastic Cup Ball Catch
16 oz Clear Plastic Cup
Ping Pong Balls
Cut the bottom of the plastic cup off with the xacto knife. Next, cut the tip of the balloon off with the scissors. Tie a knot in the end of the balloon and place the cut part of the balloon over the bigger opening of the plastic cup. Place the ping pong ball inside the cup and pull back on the knot in the balloon and watch how far the ball flies. The kids will love this one.
Candy Coated Cones
Sugar Ice Cream Cones
Wilton Candy Melts – any color or flavor will work
Wilton Candy Sprinkles
Wilton Melting Pot
Wilton Cupcake Cone Baking Rack
Bag of Candy
Melt the candy melts in the melting pot. Stir occasionally until they are fully melted. Dip the sugar ice cream cones into the candy melts and then dip them in the Wilton sprinkles. Place them in the ice cream cone holder and let them cool, you can place them in the refrigerator to cool faster. Fill the cones with ice cream or candy.
Miter Saw (or have Lowe’s cut it for you)
Americana Paint – I used black, red and white
Cut the Wood into 9” long pieces, you will need 54 of these. Next, sand all of the rough edges. Paint 18 pieces with red, 18 black and 18 white, (or whatever 3 colors you would like). I painted 2 coats of paint on each piece; let the paint dry at least 10 – 15 minutes between coats. Stack and have fun.
Yard Tic Tac Toe
1 Large piece of Wood (I used a circle, but you can use any shape you want)
9-12 Large River Rocks
Americana Multi Surface Paint – Red, Yellow and Black
Americana Paint Marker – Black
You can paint the wood if you would like to, I left it unpainted and drew the tic tac toe lines with the black paint marker. Paint 6 rocks red and 6 rocks yellow. Using the black paint, put black stripes on the yellow rocks and black polk-a-dots on the red rocks, let dry and have fun.
